Class D Training Options
Aerial Rescue Solutions Instructors have performed access and rescue work in a variety of industries such as power line/utility construction & repair, communication tower access, avalanche control, wind turbine access and rescue, confined space access and rescue and oil and gas projects in mountainous terrain. ARS Instructors have developed a solid experience base working as down line technicians, hoist operators, and short haul rescue technicians on projects in a variety of environments on different continents. The combination of access and rescue experience translates into key abilities to customize training to meet student outcomes.
Class D Short haul Work Methods
Aerial Rescue Solutions has tailored training courses for linemen and power line operations focusing on a mix of traditional, hoist, and short haul work access and rescue techniques. ARS works with our clients to develop realistic training scenarios using ARS HETS short haul kits meeting Transport Canada 429 requirements and twin engine helicopters that meet required single engine performance to qualify for use for work access.
Class D Short Haul Rescue Training
Aerial Rescue Solutions Instructors have taught short haul rescue training in a variety of countries in South America, North America and the Middle East. This diverse background has aided ARS in developing a curriculum that provides students with meaningful progression and skill development.
Hover exit for team Members
Hover exit is an essential skill for team members that may be required to disembark from a helicopter where a landing area may not be readily available. Procedures, communications and coordination with aircrew are reviewed and practiced.
Essential Crew Member
For traditional belly band short haul kits the use of an on-board essential crew member (Spotter) is required. A mix of classroom, drills, and scenarios provides students the opportunity to demonstrate competency.
Down-line Rescuer
Classroom sessions focus on helicopter operations, human factors, decision making and risk management. Field training builds on theory by incorporating operational scenarios.
Team Leader/ IC/ SAR Manager/ OSCAR
Key elements of helicopter use, short haul and hoist operational methods, operational safety and other topics are discussed with an aim in developing a complete understanding of managing risk in complex responses.
